This is about WBCHSE Class 11 English Syllabus 2024 Semester 1 and 2. West Bengal council of Higher secondary education has published a new syllabus for class 11 and 12. This will be started from 2024. The students who are going to get admission in class 11, will face the new syllabus.
For the first time, the Government of West Bengal has introduced semester system in Higher Secondary education. The whole curriculum has been divided into four semesters. First two semesters are in class 11 and class 12 includes third and fourth semester. First and third semesters are on MCQ questions and rest of the semesters are on descriptive type questions and answers.
WBCHSE Class 11 English Syllabus 2024 -Course Objectives
The general objectives of the new syllabus are- developing skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
Listening and Comprehension:
- To Comprehend oral presentations on various topics.
- To Participate in group discussions, interviews,
- To make short oral presentations.
Speaking
- To Participate in discussions and debates on current national and international affairs, sports, business, etc.
- To Respond in interviews, group discussions.
- To make meaningful inquiries for travel purposes.
Reading and Comprehension
- To Perceive the overall meaning of texts.
- To trace central points, supporting details.
- To Promote advanced language skills for reasoning and drawing inferences.
- To Read and comprehend extended texts.
- To Develop study skills such as skimming and scanning for main ideas and details.
- To Understand the writer’s purpose, tone, and distinguishing between literal and
- figurative language.
- To Comprehend technical language in computer-related fields.
Writing Skills
- Writing argumentative essays
- To write formal/informal letters.
- To use contextual clues to infer meanings of unfamiliar vocabulary.
- To Produce unified paragraphs with adequate details and support.
- To Write workplace-related items such as summaries, and reports.

Grammar
